The MIT Sloan MBA

Our mission is to develop principled, innovative leaders who improve the world and to generate ideas that advance management practice.

MIT Sloan is about invention. It's about ideas that are made to matter. Here, we discover tomorrow’s interesting and important challenges. We go where we want to have impact. And then, we invent the future.

MIT Sloan is a community of passionate, curious people. Meet classmates and faculty who respect your diversity of ideas, the impact of your contributions, and your creativity. Build lifelong friendships over the next two years and join a community of accomplished alumni.

For us, the leading edge is not a destination, but an ongoing process. Here, leaders come together to solve the most complex problems and bring solutions out into the world to improve today and advance tomorrow.

Action Learning

Action learning labs focused on industry, region, or theme.

Action Learning is a centerpiece of the MIT Sloan MBA experience, describing both our approach to management education and a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities for students. To reinforce their developing knowledge, students at MIT Sloan exercise their leadership skills and apply classroom learning to management challenges in organizations around the world.

MIT Sloan offers Action Learning labs focused on subject areas, like sustainability or analytics, or on geographic regions or type of company. In 2016-2017, MBA students chose from over 15 different labs, with projects ranging from benchmarking a company's sustainability activities against industry standards to providing a big data company with a comprehensive analysis of the credit scoring solutions market based on consumer social data.

Expert and Approachable Faculty

Zeynop Ton

You’ll notice an informality at MIT born of mutual respect. Everyone here is accomplished, and everyone assumes you are, too. The professors you have lunch with know that because you’re at MIT, you have a hand in something both interesting and meaningful. They respect that. If you have questions, they'll help you find the answers, or lead you to someone who can. And those expert professors, like most people here, are refreshingly down to earth.

Connecting Across Campus

With nearly 11,000 students, more than half of whom are graduate students, and about 1,100 faculty, MIT sits along the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It’s a short walk across the Mass Ave Bridge to the city of Boston. MIT Sloan is located on the Red Line subway in Kendall Square.

A Vibrant Community

The community of students, faculty, and staff at MIT Sloan are a dynamic and welcoming group, coming together from diverse backgrounds and all corners of the world to teach, learn, and invent the future at MIT Sloan.

The energy grabs you as soon as you step on campus. It’s impossible to ignore. And since it’s MIT, we’re busy measuring that energy, capturing it, and finding the best way to harness it to impact the world.

Working across campus with students and faculty from other disciplines is one of the most exciting opportunities at MIT Sloan. These cross-campus connections provide the spark that ignites new ideas, new products, and new companies. Cross-disciplinary study and teamwork are baked into the MIT experience. MBA students are invited to take classes from around MIT, and even at other select universities, to gain a more concentrated expertise in the industries, functions, and ideas that interest them most.
